Which way next???

I can be honest here, right?  I’m not sure what to do with this blog right now.  It started out just for me and I’d pester my BFF’s and family into reading it.  But now I’ve got a Facebook page and a Twitter account and followers – some of whom I think are following me because I think they think they’re going to get porn (FYI it’s a food blog).  Anyway, for the time being I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing which is part recipe sharing, part story-telling and the occasional restaurant review and book suggestion.

Speaking of book suggestions check out The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean from Dress aDay, food is not the focus but I guarantee you’re going to want Ham and Biscuits about half way through the story.

Green Swiss Chard & Pasta

1 bunch Green Swiss Chard
2 bunches Beet tops
2 cloves Garlic, sliced
½ cup Onion, diced
2 cups Penne
2 TBSP Olive oil
1 TSP Butter
1 TSP Lemon juice
3 TBSP Parmesan, grated
Salt & Pepper to taste

In to a skillet place 1 tbsp olive oil and let warm, add sliced garlic and onion, until onion is almost translucent.  Begin to boil water for pasta.

Trim and clean Chard and beet tops by washing in cool water.  Let excess water drain and pat partially dry with paper towel, then cut leaves in half and chiffonade.  When water comes to a boil add pasta and cook until al dente.

Add greens to garlic and onions, season with salt and pepper.  Drain pasta.

Add butter, remaining oil and lemon juice to pasta pot.  Toss pasta and greens in pot and top with cheese.

Cooks enough for 2 servings.
